Spinach

Iron contained in spinach has a safe, natural form whereas taking iron in pharmacological form may threaten with an overdose hazard, which is exceptionally dangerous especially to children.
A key to strength
Spinach is an excellent source of iron, which is a part of the haemoglobin transporting oxygen through all the body cells and is a part of the system responsible for production of energy and metabolism. It is especially recommended to women, children and youth during a growing stage.

Spinach comes from Persia. Moors brought it to Europe in the 9th century. It gained its fans very slowly becoming greatly popular after World War II advertised by Americans. The ambassador of this vegetable became Popeye the sailor – a cartoon character, who always had a can of spinach handy. He emptied it in one gulp and faced his opponent in a fight, which always ended with a knock out of his opponent.

Spinach is famous for it great iron content. First calculations were carried out in 19th century by dr. E. von Wolf, who….made a mistake in placing a comma. Spinach contains 10 times less iron than given in his data! The error was only noticed as late as 1937. The good news for those who gorge on spinach is – luckily it remains on the top list of vegetables not only due to its impressive, despite its iron contents, but also tremendous amount of vitamins C, E, folic acid, zinc, magnesium and potassium.
