Poultry meat nutritious valueChicken poultry, besides its delicate flavour, has many elements necessary for our bodies. It’s valued mainly as a source of animal protein, with high nutritious value and low caloric content, making it a fundamental ingredient of a protein diet. Besides proteins, chicken poultry provides our bodies with lipids, mineral salts, trace elements and vitamins.
Poultry for health and beauty Poultry contains relatively small amounts of fat; it’s located in easily removable skin. Chicken without the skin has about 5% fat, therefore it’s recommended for people on low cholesterol diets, low-energy diets or for those wishing to reduce their body’s mass. The meat has a more delicate tissue structure, it’s evenly saturated with fatty tissue, it also has less connective tissue which makes it lighter for the digestion. Chicken livers are a great source for provitamine A, that’s so necessary for good skin condition; it also has some protective properties – safeguarding us against infections.
Tips for storing poultry The raw meat should be washed and carefully dried and then kept in specially designated containers. When the meat’s portioned and wrapped in plastic film, it can be stored in a freezer for 2-3 months.
