Nutritious value in dairy products Milk is an indispensable and a very valuable food in our everyday diet, the best and cheapest source of calcium. Calcium is not only used in bone construction, it prevents the demineralisation of teeth, but it’s also a necessary factor in many physiological processes, regulating the proper work of the heart (ensuring the right rhythm and systole strength), the right blood coagulation, and functioning of muscles as well as of the nervous system. Milk can form the basis of a diet, as in the case of a milk diet. Cheeses and cream cheeses are sources of high quality proteins necessary for cell reconstruction. As derivatives of milk, they contain a lot of calcium, vitamins A, D and B group vitamins, these include easily absorbed fats. It’s important to get children used to eating cream cheeses, as they have a lower fat and sodium content. It’s also an important factor in forming proper eating habits. People with high cholesterol levels should limit cheeses, or use low-fat cheeses.

Dairy food for a good diet Daily recommendation for milk is 2 cups, or the same amount of kefir or yoghurt and 1-2 slices of cheese. It’s not only recommended to drink milk for breakfast, but also during the day to quench the thirst; milk’s easily absorbed and tolerated by most people. Children are often allergic to milk, but in most cases [app. 95%] it goes away.

Tips for storing dairy products Dairy products have short expiry dates and should only be stored for a couple of days. Only pasteurised milk and cartoned dairy products may be stored for up to a couple months; vacuum packed kefirs, yoghurts, cheeses and cream cheeses for up to one month.
