The world’s cuisines on a plate!

You can discover that cooking doesn’t have to be boring or monotonous. We invite you for a great trip around the world on a tasty culinary route; we’ll make you suggestions on how to discover new pleasures of the palate. You will find out about the eating customs at the various tables. Which stop will turn out to be the tastiest? Will you be tempted with sunny Italian cuisine, fiery Mexican, exquisite French, or maybe the breathtaking and unequalled Oriental fragrance? Discover for yourself right here and now.

We set off on our journey with the Greek cuisine, where we can taste the influences of Italian and Turkish cuisines. The Greek cuisine is built upon olive oil, vegetables and herbs, so characteristic for the Mediterranean region. The Greek cuisine’s secret is in the joy of feasting together. The Greeks like to eat well; so, they value tasty cuisine. We shouldn’t be surprised by the fact that they can travel a long distance to reach the restaurant where the best roasted souvlaki – Greek’s main dish - is served.

We continue our journey to Spain, which is a little milder in its approach to food. It charms our palate with a diversity of dishes, made with meats, fish and vegetables. It owes its unique tastes to the people who once lived on Iberian Peninsula in times past. The Spanish cuisine is famous for dishes such as paella and gazpacho.

The next stop is Japan. Its cuisine is both natural and harmonious, considered the world’s healthiest. Sushi bars are springing up in cities all over the world, like mushrooms after the rain. White rice and soya are the ingredients expected in almost every dish. The Japanese cuisine surprises us and doesn’t suit everyone with its simplicity, raw form and content. The ritual of eating in Japan is not only for satisfying our needs, but also an aesthetic and mystical experience. The beautifully served dishes should stimulate our emotions and together with the atmosphere play an important part in the state of the mind and heart.

The Mexican cuisine has become a big hit in recent years, so, we travel to Mexico where the Spanish conquistadors have marked their presence in many fields, including the culinary one. This meeting of two cultures has resulted in a very aromatic and fiery cuisine. Before the Spaniards came, corn had been the dietary basis and corn dough is used for baking Mexican bread – tortilla.

To balance it out, now’s the time for the Thai cuisine. The ideal combination of sweet and sour flavours, as well as bitter and sweet ones is a good enough reason to visit and use this country’s recipes. The use of fresh herbs and aromas such as lime juice is characteristic of this country, as well as using lemon grass and fresh coriander. Similarly, to the Asian cuisine rice is the main ingredient of many dishes. Besides its flavour, Thai cuisine pays special attention to the way the dishes are presented, so, Thai people concentrate very much on decoration, which has become almost an art form in the case of carving vegetables and fruit.

The cuisine that’s the most highly advanced and diverse is the Indian cuisine. Most assuredly, it offers some of the world’s best vegetarian dishes. The typical meal comprises of an appetiser, mostly salad, a main dish, and great chapati bread, eaten with vegetables and rice. According to Indian people, food is a gift of their gods; therefore, it requires much preparation and should be consumed with seriousness, reverence and attention.

Now we move on to the cuisine considered by many gourmets to be the world’s tastiest – the Italian cuisine. We know of some Italian dishes originating from the 4th century B.C. Among the ingredients that enhance the aromas are garlic, saffron, oregano, wine and olive oil of the first pressing. The dishes are not complicated but they enchant us with their rich flavour and diversity. Oh, the fragrance of fresh herbs, tomatoes, pepper and onion ripening in the sun! In addition, some of the globe’s best spicy meats are dried under the hot Italian sun.

Spaghetti and pizza – these are symbols – but they don’t reflect the diversity or richness so characteristic for these specialities from nineteen different Italian regions.

For our next stop, we choose the exquisite French cuisine, which, according to many gourmets consider the best in the world.  Eating is an inseparable element of everyday life for the average Frenchman, so we shouldn’t be surprised that it’s the French who created the art of savoir – vivre. It’s been known all over the world thanks to the French themselves, who have propagated their own country and its goods. Even the greatest culinary laymen can mention the most popular French dishes such as tarts, onion soup or the famous baguette, and even more sophisticated frog’s legs, or snails served in various modes.

The cuisines of the world that we’ve mentioned above are only the beginning of the culinary journey. There are many more tasty stops. Here’s your guide of the fascinating flavours of world cuisines.

Sometimes it’s good to make a stop along the road and taste some selected dishes or recipes of a chosen cuisine.
